Bettelou was born in Detroit, Michigan soon moving with her family to California for most of her life. As long as she can remember, she has felt the need to create. She started with knitting, crocheting and sewing, then expanded into painting and bead-and-wire jewelry making.

Known for her quirky charm, seen through her cowboy hats, sewn and knitted pieces, and exquisite jewelry. Her abstract artwork offers powerful images that feed the soul. Done in oils, watercolors and acrylics, it seeks to break away from traditional representation of objects and explore the relationships of forms and colors. She is also an accomplished landscape, portrait and animal painter. Her animal art ranges from custom pet portraits to paintings of African animals that portray both their beauty and potent symbolism.

Bettelou's creativity and imagination are always at work. She enjoys vivid colors and spatial relationships, and her philosophy is to keep creating beauty in whatever mediums make her happy.
